From Passion to Practice: Amy Speer’s Journey in Aesthetic Medicine
In aesthetic medicine, Amy Speer, PA, is a practitioner whose journey is defined by curiosity, dedication, and a passion for holistic care. With a diverse background and a commitment to balancing family practice with cutting-edge aesthetics, Amy offers a unique blend of services catering to external beauty and internal well-being.
Amy’s foray into aesthetic medicine was not a straightforward path. Her early career as a Physician Assistant took her through various medical disciplines before finding her aesthetic niche. Initially dabbling in neurotoxins, fillers, and laser hair removal, she expanded her expertise in 2019 to include PRP microneedling, hair restoration, joint injections, and sexual dysfunction treatments. Amy’s decision to deepen her skills in fillers, neurotoxins, Kybella®, and PDO threads reflects her unwavering commitment to mastering the field, instilling confidence in her patients and peers alike. “I enjoy the diversity of family practice and aesthetics,” Amy shares. “It makes me use both sides of my brain and helps me connect with patients on multiple levels. I love helping people look great on the outside and feel better on the inside.”
At RejuveNation Wellness Clinic, she offers a broad spectrum of services, including aesthetics, hormone replacement, longevity medicine, and weight loss. Her clinic provides neurotoxins, fillers, Kybella, PRP hair restoration, PRP microneedling, joint injections, sexual dysfunction treatments, RF microneedling, and PDO threads. Among these, PRP hair restoration and PDO threads are particularly popular, reflecting patients’ desire for a holistic approach to their well-being. “Patients often seek a more comprehensive solution,” Amy notes. “Forehead wrinkles are usually just the beginning. People want to address the full spectrum of their needs, and we can provide that holistic view.”
Running a successful aesthetic practice comes with its challenges, and for Amy, managing the business side and marketing has been particularly daunting. Deciding whether to expand or remain a smaller practice was a significant decision. Amy chose to keep her practice intimate and personal, emphasizing the power of word-of-mouth referrals and treating each client with compassion and respect. “Honestly, my biggest challenge has been the business side, and I have to decide if I want to become a big practice or just stay small,” Amy admits. “I ultimately decided to keep my practice on the smaller side. I struggle with keeping up with all the social media and marketing. For the most part, I have discovered that word of mouth is my best marketing tool, and I treat each person who walks through my door with the utmost compassion and respect.”
The key to Amy’s business growth lies in her ability to adapt and evolve. “I take it all one day at a time. The ebb and flow can be a little scary initially, but I have learned to expect it after several years. I try to seize those quiet times as opportunities to improve my skills and learn new techniques. I also reevaluate periodically to see which things work from a services and business standpoint and which do not.” Amy offers practical advice for those considering starting a medical aesthetic practice: “Research the area and demographics thoroughly and start slow. The financial investment in supplies, inventory, and training is substantial. Be prepared for setbacks and be resilient in your pursuit.”
Amy’s journey with PDO threads began with cautious optimism. After initial training with a different brand, she experienced a steep learning curve. Her persistence paid off when she discovered PDO Max and FDA-cleared threads-in-cannula, which she found superior in product quality and training. “PDO Max has become my favorite partner,” Amy reveals. “Their products and training are exceptional, and I appreciate the enthusiasm and honesty of their team, especially Giovanna McCarthy, their founder and owner.”
One memorable application of PDO threads involved a patient who had previously been told that she appeared as if she had had a stroke, causing her significant distress. Amy treated her midface with PDO Max 19×100 and multi threads, significantly improving her confidence and appearance.
Amy Speer’s innovative approach to aesthetic medicine and her commitment to holistic care set her apart. Her ability to integrate aesthetic treatments with a compassionate, personalized approach continues to transform lives, helping patients achieve their desired outcomes and enhancing their overall well-being.
